About Singapore
Singapore is the premium-travel capital of Southeast Asia, and Changi is the reason. More than 100 airlines fly from here to around 150 cities, Singapore Airlines runs one of the most-copied business cabins in the sky, and almost every long-haul carrier that matters puts a widebody through the airport. That density of competition is the whole story for anyone hunting business-class fares: when four carriers want the same seat sold, the price moves.
The city itself is small enough to work as a stopover and good enough to justify a week. Marina Bay gives you the skyline, Gardens by the Bay and the Sands; Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India are the older, denser, better-eating quarters; Orchard Road is the shopping spine; and Sentosa handles the beach-and-theme-park side. Base yourself around Marina Bay or Chinatown and you can walk or MRT to nearly all of it.
It is about as easy a landing as travel gets. English is one of four official languages and the default one in public life, the MRT is fast and cheap, tap-to-pay works nearly everywhere, and the free SG Arrival Card is the only paperwork most visitors need, submitted online within three days of arrival. The catch is cost: Singapore is expensive by regional standards, so the hotel budget usually does more damage than the flight.
For premium travellers specifically, Changi is unusually deep. Singapore Airlines flies its flagship cabins on nearly every long-haul sector, including the roughly 19-hour nonstop to New York, the world's longest scheduled flight. Emirates, Qatar and Etihad compete hard on the Gulf and Europe one-stops, and Cathay Pacific, ANA, JAL, Qantas, British Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss and Turkish all run business class through here. That makes Singapore both a genuine origin market and one of the best places in Asia to break a long-haul into two civilised legs.
Best time to visit
Singapore sits one degree off the equator, so it is warm and humid every day of the year, highs of 29–31°C, lows of 25–26°C, and about 2,580mm of rain annually. The difference between months is rain, not temperature: November is wettest (around 320mm across 20 rainy days) under the Northeast Monsoon, February the driest (around 130mm over 10 days). Rain usually arrives as a heavy afternoon burst rather than an all-day washout, so there is no genuinely bad time to go, for the flight, it is the fare calendar rather than the weather that should pick your month.

Common questions
How much is business class from Singapore?
It depends on the route and when you fly. A regional hop and a long-haul run to Europe are different products, and the same seat swings a long way across the year, so any number quoted here would be wrong for most readers on most days. Instead we track what each route normally costs and only post a fare when it drops well below that, every price in the table above is a live tracked fare, not an estimate.
Which airlines have business class from Singapore?
Singapore Airlines flies lie-flat business on nearly every long-haul route out of Changi. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Cathay Pacific, ANA, JAL, Qantas, British Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss, Turkish, Air France and KLM all operate premium cabins from Singapore too. The map above shows who flies where.
When is business class cheapest from Singapore?
Premium fares out of Changi are usually softest outside the December–January and June–July school peaks, with February, May and September the most reliable months to look. Every route has its own low month, and we email you the moment a specific date drops.
When is the best time to visit Singapore?
There is no bad time weather-wise, it is 29–31°C every month. The difference is rain: February is driest at around 130mm, November wettest at around 320mm, and downpours are typically short and heavy rather than all-day. Pick your month on the fare calendar rather than the forecast.
How do I get from Changi to the city?
The MRT runs from Changi to the centre in about 30–40 minutes for S$2–2.50, with one change at Tanah Merah, you can tap in with a contactless card. A taxi or private transfer takes about 20 minutes outside peak hours. Changi's four terminals are linked by the free Skytrain.
Where should I stay in Singapore?
Marina Bay puts you next to the Sands, Gardens by the Bay and the skyline walk; Chinatown and Kampong Glam are cheaper, denser and better for eating; Orchard Road suits shopping; and Sentosa is the beach-and-theme-park option. The MRT connects all of them in well under half an hour.
How many days do you need in Singapore?
Two to three days covers Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, a hawker centre or three and one of the heritage quarters. It is also the best stopover city in the region, even a single night between long-haul legs is comfortably worth doing.
Do I need a visa for Singapore?
Most nationalities (including Australia, the UK, the US, the EU and much of Asia) can enter Singapore visa-free for 30 to 90 days. Everyone arriving by air or sea must submit the free SG Arrival Card online, which can be done within three days of arrival including the day you land. Always check the current rules for your own passport before you book.
Is business class worth it on these routes?
On the long sectors out of Changi (Europe, the US, the Gulf, and the 7–8 hour Australia runs), a lie-flat seat changes the trip, and a genuine sale fare often lands close to a flexible premium-economy ticket. On short regional hops it is more about the lounge, the baggage and priority than the seat itself.
