About Seoul
Korean Air is Incheon's flagship long-haul operator, running widebodies to North America, Europe, the Gulf and Australia out of Terminal 2 and progressively rolling out Prestige Suites 2.0 on the Boeing 787-10, a 1-2-1 staggered cabin with 36 suites and 130cm sliding privacy doors. Asiana flies its own widebodies alongside until the brand folds into Korean Air, and Jetstar and T'way Air add lower-cost long-haul capacity on the Australia routes.
Terminal 2 is Korean Air's home and was doubled in size when the Phase 4 expansion entered full operation on 3 December 2024, lifting the airport to roughly 106 million annual passengers across four parallel runways. Korean Air reopened its flagship Incheon lounges there over 16 and 17 April 2026: a 921-square-metre First Class lounge with eleven private suites, and a 2,615-square-metre Prestige Class West lounge seating over 420.
Asiana moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 on 14 January 2026, taking check-in rows G to J, so both Korean carriers and the SkyTeam camp now sit together. Star Alliance and oneworld members stay in Terminal 1. The two buildings have no airside link, so allow around 90 minutes on a single through-checked ticket, using the free shuttle or a six-minute AREX hop.
Incheon works as a one-stop link between Europe or North America and the rest of Asia, and it rewards an actual stopover: many nationalities enter visa-free, and Seoul Station is 43 minutes away on the AREX Express. Time it deliberately, Korean Air absorbs Asiana on 17 December 2026, after which Star Alliance recognition on Asiana-operated flights ends and everything becomes SkyTeam.

April to May for blossom and mild days, and late September to November for autumn colour. June to August is hot, humid and takes the summer monsoon; December to February is dry and genuinely cold.

Worth knowing before you fly
Korea moved its arrival card online from 1 January 2026. Submit it at e-arrivalcard.go.kr in the three days before you land, or hold a valid K-ETA, which exempts you from it.
Common questions
Do I need a visa or K-ETA for South Korea?
It depends on your nationality. Many passports get visa-free entry for stays that vary by agreement, commonly 30 to 90 days; everyone else arranges a visa before travel. Visa-free visitors normally need a K-ETA travel authorisation, but nationals of 22 countries and regions stay exempt from it through 31 December 2026, after which the authorisation applies to them again. Airlines generally want six months of passport validity. Check your own case at k-eta.go.kr and the Korea Visa Portal, visa.go.kr.
What is Korea's e-Arrival Card and do I have to complete it?
Probably, unless you hold a valid K-ETA. Korea moved its arrival card online from 1 January 2026, replacing the paper disembarkation slip for most arrivals. Lodge it at e-arrivalcard.go.kr in the three days before you land and keep the QR code for immigration. Registered residents, crew and K-ETA holders are exempt, and airports keep tablets and QR codes airside for anyone who has not filed one.
How do I get from Incheon Airport into central Seoul?
The AREX Express runs non-stop to Seoul Station in about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 minutes from Terminal 2, for around ₩13,000. The All Stop train covers the same route in about an hour for around ₩4,200–4,800 and takes T-money. Trains stop by roughly 22:45, so late arrivals need an airport bus or a taxi.
Which Incheon terminal do I use, and what has changed with Asiana?
Asiana moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 on 14 January 2026, joining Korean Air, Jin Air, Air Busan, Air Seoul and the SkyTeam carriers. Star Alliance and oneworld members remain in Terminal 1. Korean Air absorbs Asiana on 17 December 2026, when the Asiana brand and its Star Alliance membership end. Always check the operating carrier on codeshares.
