About Toronto
Pearson is the busiest airport in Canada and Air Canada's principal hub, with Star Alliance partners Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, TAP and EVA Air sharing Terminal 1, where Emirates and Etihad also park A380s. Terminal 3 is WestJet's base and takes most oneworld and SkyTeam long-haul: British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air France, KLM, Korean Air, American and Delta.
Terminal 1's international pier holds Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge and, near gate E77, the Signature Suite, a table-service restaurant reserved for Signature Class passengers on international departures. Plaza Premium runs paid-entry lounges in both terminals, and Terminal 3 has the KLM Crown Lounge. There is no Amex Centurion lounge at Pearson, so card-holder access generally routes through Plaza Premium.
Pearson works as two airports joined by a train rather than one campus. Terminal 1 concentrates Star Alliance connections; Terminal 3 does the same for oneworld and SkyTeam, and both have United States preclearance halls, so transborder flights land domestically on the other side. Switching terminals means the free Terminal Link, two to eight minutes plus walking, so split-alliance itineraries need a real buffer.
Toronto is a city of neighbourhoods more than monuments. The CN Tower and the harbourfront anchor the postcard, but Kensington Market, Little Italy, Chinatown, Little India on Gerrard and the Danforth are twenty minutes apart by streetcar, and roughly half the population was born outside Canada, which is why the eating is the real argument for staying. Niagara Falls is about ninety minutes by road.

How do you get from Toronto Pearson into the city?
The UP Express train leaves Terminal 1 and reaches Union Station in about 25 minutes, running every 15 minutes, at C$12.35 for an adult one-way or C$9.25 with a Presto card. Terminal 3 passengers ride the free Terminal Link train over first. By road, allow 30 to 45 minutes.
Which terminal do long-haul flights use at Toronto Pearson?
Terminal 1 handles Air Canada and its Star Alliance partners plus Emirates, Etihad, Turkish Airlines and EVA Air. Terminal 3 handles WestJet, Porter, Air Transat and most oneworld and SkyTeam carriers, including British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air France, KLM, Korean Air and Delta. Late April to October is the comfortable stretch. May, June, September and October bring 15-22C days and thinner crowds than July and August, which are hot, humid and full of festivals, from Pride to the jazz festival and Caribana. Winter days hover near freezing with wind off Lake Ontario.
