About Boston
Logan is Delta's second transatlantic hub and a JetBlue base, which is why the long-haul map is wide for a city this size. Aer Lingus, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, Austrian, Scandinavian Airlines, Iberia, ITA Airways, TAP Air Portugal, Level and Icelandair cover Europe. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Turkish Airlines and El Al reach the Gulf and the eastern Mediterranean, and Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air and Hainan Airlines fly to Asia.
Terminal E, the John A. Volpe International Terminal, is where almost every international arrival without preclearance is processed and where most foreign carriers depart. A $680 million expansion completed on 15 August 2023 added two international gates, two flexible-use gates, a new security checkpoint and roughly 320,000 square feet of space under a prismatic painted roof. Its lounges include Delta's Sky Club and Delta One Lounge alongside rooms run by Air France, British Airways, Emirates and Lufthansa.
All four terminals sit on one loop road, linked before security by shuttle buses, by the free Silver Line SL1 and by moving walkways between A, B and E. Terminals B, C and E are joined after security too, and Massport voted on 16 May 2024 to build the last connector, between A and B. Skanska started a $250 million garage, roadway and pedestrian-bridge project for Terminal E in 2025, due to finish in 2030.
Boston is small enough to walk and old enough to be worth walking. The Freedom Trail threads sixteen historic sites through the North End, Beacon Hill and downtown; Fenway Park has staged baseball since 1912; the Museum of Fine Arts holds one of the largest collections in the country. Across the Charles River, Cambridge carries Harvard and MIT, and the harbour islands sit half an hour offshore.

May, June, September and October. Late September and October bring New England's autumn colour and the clearest air of the year; July and August are hot and humid; January and February are cold, with snow and harbour wind.

Since 7 May 2025, a domestic flight inside the United States needs identification meeting the federal REAL ID standard. A passport satisfies the check, so anyone arriving internationally and connecting onward is unaffected.

The Silver Line SL1 bus stops at the arrivals level of every terminal and runs to South Station, and it is free when you board at the airport, roughly 15 to 25 minutes, with Red Line and commuter rail connections at the far end. A free Massport shuttle reaches the Blue Line's Airport station, and Logan Express runs to Back Bay every 30 minutes for $3.
Which terminal do international flights use at Boston Logan?
Terminal E, the John A. Volpe International Terminal, where ticket counters and gates are shared among the foreign carriers. Every international arrival without preclearance is processed there, because no other terminal has customs facilities. Aer Lingus, Air Canada, TAP Air Portugal and WestJet are the exceptions on departure and use other terminals. Terminals B, C and E are connected after security.
What lounges are there at Boston Logan?
Terminal E carries the widest choice: Delta's Sky Club and Delta One Lounge, plus rooms run by Air France, British Airways, Emirates and Lufthansa, the last with separate first and business lounges. Terminal B has the Admirals Club and the United Club. Terminal A, which is Delta's, has Sky Club space of its own.
