Jetstar has flown its first trial passenger aircraft into Western Sydney International Airport ahead of the airport's October opening. The trial flight validates operational readiness for the new airport west of Sydney, which will serve as a second major airport for the region.

### What it means for you

Western Sydney International will offer Australian business travellers a second major airport option from Sydney. Jetstar's early commitment suggests competitive capacity on regional and domestic routes from the new airport. Seat availability and pricing on routes from Western Sydney remain to be seen once scheduled services begin, but the airport's opening will likely increase competition on existing Sydney routes.
