Cathay Pacific has discontinued its direct flights between Cairns and Hong Kong. The airline has removed this route from its network, eliminating the only direct air link between the two cities on this carrier.

### What it means for you

Australian business travellers from Cairns heading to Hong Kong will no longer have a direct Cathay Pacific option and will need to connect through other hubs, likely adding several hours to journey time. This reduces competition on the route and may push travellers toward competitors or alternative routings. Existing Cathay Pacific frequent flyer members on this route will need to rebook on partner airlines or different carriers.
